We have reached the parenting stage where we are starting to enjoy family games shows! I didn't think this would happen to me, but I am absolutely loving it! Evenings in with some good food and something fun to watch on tv with our 9 and 7 year olds are fast becoming one of my favourite ways to spend my evening.

Here are the top 3 family games shows we are loving at the moment:

Ninja Warrior

This show is so motivational and inspiring, it’s such a feel-good family show and I would highly recommend it for your family night.

Anything with Chris Kamara and Ben Shepherd is always going to be great entertainment and Richelle Humes is a great co-host!

The concept is contestants battling it out to become the ninja warrior by competing in several insane physical challenges. My children love watching all the challenges and trying to work out if they would be good at them and if they thought they could get through.

The thing I really love about this is that it shows people who have worked unbelievably hard to develop their fitness and ninja skills and it has encouraged my children to want to be more physically fit and move more. While it is competitive the camaraderie is great to see and it shows sport in a really good light.

You can find this on Catch Up on itvX there are a view American versions of this too, including a children's one.

Catchphrase

This show is super easy and great fun to watch. Whilst my children don’t know lots of the actual catchphrases, they are able to keep having a go as the concept is just say what you see.

With Stephen Mulhern presenting there are lots of laughs and it’s a really easy watch.

You can find this on Catch up on ITV

Gladiators

We have only had one episode of the new series so far, but this took me right back to my childhood! It’s got all the same music and the concept is the same of battling against the gladiators to be the champion. My children loved this and the new gladiators were fantastic. This is very similar to ninja warrior but it’s a bit more light-hearted, with the gladiators having real fun characters (just like hunter, jet and wolf from my childhood)

There is great entertainment value with this and we actually rediscovered it after all of my sons friends were talking about it at school.

You can watch this on Catch up on BBC Iplayer or watch it live on BBC 1 on Saturday nights at 5.50pm

So there are our favourites, we are always on the lookout for new shows so if you have any recommendations please let me know
