Santa Express Train comes to Meadowhall this Christmas
Following the switch on of its festive lights last week, Meadowhall has now revealed its full schedule of fun in the run up to Christmas, including a brand new Santa Express Train.
The magical train will be making a stop at the centre from 26th November and throughout December, when families can head enjoy a ride on the Santa Express, meeting Santa and his elves for an exciting Christmas experience that will include snow, Christmas songs, live performances from the elves and a gift from Santa.
The train will depart from the Oasis Dining Quarter Courtyard and will run every 20 minutes from 2pm – 8pm weekdays and 11am – 8pm (last train at 7pm) weekends and holidays. Tickets are available to book online now and will also be available for walk ups, with prices starting from £5.
Meadowhall’s Christmas calendar will also include a daily flurry of snow and visits from a range of festive characters throughout late November and December, including mischievous Elves, Frosty the Unicorn, Mrs Claus, the Clockwork Ballerina among many more.
The whimsical Clockwork Ballerina character can be found practising her pirouette and adding a sprinkling of magical fairy dust to your visit. If you spot Santa’s elves out and about, prepare to be astounded and amazed, as they are more magical than ever. Santa’s merry band of elves will be performing some of the North Pole’s finest close-up magic tricks and you might even find a few chocolate Christmas coins appearing from little ears all around the centre!
For all Unicorn mad children out there, make sure you don’t miss Frosty the Christmas Unicorn at Meadowhall! She’s super fluffy and utterly adorable. The wintry Frosted Fairy will accompany Frosty around Meadowhall as she meets all the little (and not so little shoppers) this Christmas. You can’t always rely on the great British weather, but at least you can rely on Meadowhall for a white Christmas this year. Look out for a magical snow flurry every day at 4.30pm-4.40pm outside in the Oasis Courtyard, as Meadowhall are planning to make it snow!
Visitors will also enjoy festive classics, with a selection of choirs from across the region performing in the run up to Christmas, and there will be plenty of opportunities for shoppers to pose for a festive selfie with the return of the Christmas baubles, Angel Wings, and new this year is Santa’s Sleigh – located at various points around the centre.
Ahead of Christmas, Meadowhall is also encouraging shoppers to get into the selfie spirit by running a competition for 3 lucky customers to win a £300 Meadowhall gift card. To enter all shoppers need to do is simply share their festive pictures on Instagram or Twitter and tag @lovemeadowhall and #MHChristmas.
Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said: “Christmas was a difficult time for many last year, so we want to do what we can to help make this year extra special.
“We’re really excited to have Santa at the centre and hope that a trip on the Santa Express, along with the range of other activities and festive characters will help visitors get into the Christmas spirit.”
Late night Christmas shopping also returns to Meadowhall in November and December, with stores open from 9am to 10pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm on Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
Free parking is available as usual and shoppers are being encouraged to visit outside of peak times if they can, with quieter times usually after 6pm Monday – Friday.
