Are you struggling with entertainment ideas this winter? There is nothing more enjoyable than a family day out at an ice rink! Wrap up your little ones in warm boys’ waterproof jackets and get your ice skates on. It will be an evening your children will cherish for years!

We have selected some of the best ice skating venues in the country – which one will you visit?

Edinburgh – Edinburgh Ice Skating

Are you ready for some Scottish winter magic? Explore Edinburgh’s festive market and make your way to the city’s famous St George’s street. Glide up and down its enchanting ice rink (skate hire is included in the ticket) and take in the beautiful views. Double-blade skates are available for little feet and, at an additional cost, you can hire skate aids for your kids too.

Until: 2nd January 2022

Tickets: adults £9.50, children £6, family ticket £24

London – Natural History Museum Ice Rink

If you have always dreamt of skating with your little ones at the Natural History Museum Ice Rink, now is the time to make that wish come true. In fact, after 16 years, the ice rink will sadly be closing. Therefore, get yourself to London and enjoy an unforgettable family day out. Combine an educational experience at the Natural History Museum with a magical skating adventure. Ask for twin-blade skates (which fit over children’s shoes), borrow some penguin skate aids, and get gliding!

Until: 16th January 2022

Tickets: adults from £12.65, children from £8.80

Surrey – Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink

This is a truly stunning place, there is no denying that. With an open-air ice rink right outside the palace, you can skate and admire the lit-up building in all its glory. Once you’re satisfied with your time on the icy stage, grab your kids a warm drink at the ice rink bar. There is little more you could want from a family day out!

Until: 9th January 2022

Tickets: adults £16 – £19, children £11.50 – £14, family ticket £46 – £52

Newcastle upon Tyne – Centre for Life Ice Rink

York – The Ice Factor

With a 30ft Christmas tree in the centre, the Ice Factor is an especially festive place. Once your skating session is over, you can enjoy treats and drinks at its rink-side funfair.

Bath – Bath on Ice

With 1000 square metres at your disposal, get your skates on and take to the ice with your adventurous little ones. After that, why not treat them to a game of Glow Golf, conveniently situated right next to the ice rink?

Tickets: adults £12.50, children £11, family ticket £40.50

Cornwall – Eden Project Ice Skating Rink, Bodelva
