It’s set to be an action-packed May half-term at Warwick Castle, as its jousting spectacular Wars of the Roses LIVE! returns earlier than ever and the Zog Live Show is back for summer, once again completing the ‘Realm of Zog’.

With over 15 live show performances and attractions available each day, including The Legend of the Trebuchet, Zog Playland, Horrible HistoriesⓇ Maze, interactive tower experiences and so much more - there is plenty to keep kids and adults of all ages entertained all day.

Families looking to extend the day into a magical overnight stay will love the medieval themed Knight’s Village. As well as its cosy wooden lodges, its much-loved glamping tents return from 5 May, just in time for half-term, giving families even more choice of accommodation.

What’s more, anyone booking a trip between May 1st and May 31st will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win an amazing short-break in the summer holidays in a Knight’s Village Woodland Lodge, complete with breakfast and two days’ entry.*

Wars of the Roses LIVE! - Returns earlier than ever before

Returning earlier than ever for 2023, the world-famous Wars of the Roses LIVE! comes home to Warwick Castle from Saturday, May 27. Visitors both new and returning can immerse themselves in a world of historic battles, knights, and intrigue with this thrilling live performance, complete with brand new trick-riding stunts that are sure to leave audiences in awe.

Set in a purpose-built arena, with the magnificent backdrop of Warwick Castle’s South Front, Wars of the Roses LIVE! will run for 100 days – longer than ever before!

Bringing the story of the Wars of the Roses to life, a series of battles fought between the House of Lancaster and the House of York for control of the English throne, Wars of the Roses LIVE!’s thrilling action, daring stunts, and incredible jousting bring visitors back time and time again.

Legend of the Trebuchet - New for 2023

Visitors can marvel at Britain's biggest siege machine in action as it takes centre stage in this new spectacular show - Legend of the Trebuchet. Join Warwick Castle’s most unlikely heroes as they defend the ancient fortress from attack and watch in amazement as, just when it appears that all hope is lost, the rag-tag group pulls together to mount a defence. Against all odds, their teamwork will unleash the mighty power of the trebuchet, sending their boulder around 200m, as they defend the fine castle. Complete with pyrotechnics, special effects, archery and horses, this show is sure to impress.

The Realm of Zog

The Zog Live Show returns from Saturday 27th May to once again delight fans of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's lovable dragon. Featuring a script developed by Julia Donaldson for Warwick Castle, this 30-minute open-air experience features live puppetry, interactive routines and a set design created using Axel Scheffler’s original artwork.

picture of Zog Live Show at Warwick Castle With the Zog And The Quest For The Golden Star Trail having returned in March, inviting young visitors to try their hand at some quintessential dragon skills, and Zog Playland, inspired by Zog and the Flying Doctors, open all-year-round, the Realm of Zog is once again complete.

The Princess Tower

This May half-term, returning guests to the castle might notice something a little different about The Princess Tower - it has a brand-new, interactive story and riddle to solve on a Coronation theme. The princesses need the children’s help to bring light back to Warwick and return the rightful ruler to the throne. Younger visitors will love helping to crown Princess Eve as Queen of Warwick Castle in this magical, interactive experience that is fun for all the family.

There’s Still More to Explore and Do

The half-term fun is not over yet! From getting lost in time in the Horrible HistoriesⓇ Maze and interactive fun in The Time Tower to marvelling at acrobatics of up to 60 birds in the magical Falconer’s Quest - the UK’s largest birds of prey show - and watching the castle’s resident archer hit the target in the Bowman Show - guests will find there’s so much to see and do. Young visitors can learn traditional sword moves and tactical defence skills in the Knight School, while guests of all ages can join free history tours to find out more about the castle’s fascinating past. 

There’s no forgetting the Great Hall, which features an extensive collection of medieval weaponry, the Royal Weekend Party, which brings the past to life Victorian high society or The Kingmaker walk-through experience, as well as the castle’s 64 acres of grounds and gardens.
