The Adventures of Mog at Arlington Court: A fun-filled activity trail based on the beloved children’s book series

Families looking for an exciting adventure this summer need to look no further than the National Trust’s Arlington Court, near Barnstaple in North Devon, where the beloved children's book character Mog will be brought to life in a free family activity trail. Created in partnership with HarperCollins Children’s Books, the trail will feature a range of fun activities for children and adults alike.

From 1 July to 31 August, young, and not so young, explorers can discover nature, the great outdoors, and the story of one remarkable cat called Mog who continues to capture the hearts of all ages.

The lovable and curious cat from the children's book series by Judith Kerr, will take families on a journey through the beautiful grounds of Arlington Court. Along the way, they will have the chance to spot Mog hidden in the gardens, to transform into a butterfly, and to leap through a giant cat flap. With a variety of fun activities to take part in, families will be sure to have a memorable day out.

Her books have been loved by generations of children and adults alike. This year marks 100 years since her birth.

Kate Godden, Experience & Visitor Programming Manager at Arlington Court, says: ’We are thrilled to be working with HarperCollins Children’s Books to bring Mog to life at Arlington Court. Judith Kerr’s stories have brought joy to children and adults alike for generations and we can’t wait to see that joy, along with lots of smiles and laughter at Arlington Court while families make memories to last.’

In addition to the Mog trail, families can also enjoy a range of other activities on-site. Children can play in the new garden play space, the whole family can relax and enjoy refreshments or ice-cream in the tea-room or head to the reading room and dive into a good book, perhaps one of the Mog stories!

The activity trail is available from 1 July to 31 August and is free of charge, normal admission prices apply.  A special range of Mog soft toys, books and merchandise will also be for sale, so you can enjoy Judith Kerr’s stories at home.
