Welcoming Cultures and Meadowhall bring a celebration of cultural style to Sheffield

In an exciting collaboration, Meadowhall is hosting a brand-new cultural fashion celebration running throughout May and June.

Presented in partnership with Sheffield's Welcoming Cultures organisation, the initiative includes the 'Seeing Beyond Our Cultural Outfit' exhibition, which is on display at the centre until the end of June, as well as day of cultural fashion showcases on Friday 24th May.

Taking place during Cultural Style Week (21st – 27th May), which aims to empower people to embrace their heritage by encouraging them to showcase their traditional attire, the showcases will bring together a unique blend of cultures and styles, celebrating the creativity of a diverse array of designers.

The exhibition includes captivating photography of 12 portraits curated by Terezia Rostas, a renowned Roma educational and cultural consultant, Candy-Ellie Graham, the founder of Cultural Style Week and Meadowhall. It shares the vibrant stories of local participants and offers a captivating exploration of cultural diversity and heritage in Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

The initiative has been supported by funders and partners from across the region, including Sheffield Business Chamber of Commerce, Sheffield City Council, Museums Sheffield, and SYMCA.

Welcoming Cultures UK is a Sheffield-based organisation which brings together communities, institutions and businesses to celebrate their heritage and culture. Their exhibitions, shows, festivals and educational programmes collaborate with UNESCO, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Migration Matters, Historic England, as well as many other global organisations.
