If your child loves animals and hilarious stories, this is a must-read! Weâve been reading David Walliams' latest Worldâs Worst book â The Worldâs Worst Pets â and itâs been a huge hit with my 7-year-old.
Whatâs the Book About?
The book follows the same much-loved format as the other Worldâs Worst books â each chapter introduces a brilliantly bonkers new character, packed with humour, expressive language, and illustrations that jump off the page.
From Monty the Musical Dog, whose dreams of stardom are ruined by the family cat, to Bad Bunny, who might just be the only good pet in the whole book (he just happens to have a terrible owner) â thereâs a character for everyone to fall in love with.
Oscarâs Review (Age 7)
â I love this book because it has really expressive words that jump off the page and make it more interesting to read. One of my favourite characters is Bad Bunny because he isnât actually bad â I really love small rodents too! I also like the Hamsters vs Gerbils chapter â Bettyâs life really changed in one day! â

(Mini Book Reviewer for The Parenting Daily)
Oscar gives The Worldâs Worst Pets a solid 9.5/10 and has already recommended it to his friends at school.
Why We Loved It
This book is great for children who love fast-paced, silly stories â and itâs ideal for encouraging independent reading or reading together at bedtime. Each story feels like a mini adventure, with exaggerated characters and some classic David Walliams mischief thrown in.
As a parent, I love that the language is so vivid and exciting â it makes reading feel like a performance, especially when you're doing all the voices! The book is also perfect for dipping in and out of, which works really well for reluctant readers or kids with shorter attention spans.
Why We Recommend It:
đž Fun and fast-paced for ages 6â12
đ° Packed with outrageous pet stories and bold illustrations
đ Great for reluctant readers or short reading bursts
đ§ Reviewed and loved by a 7-year-old!
