Our review of the Simba Hybrid Duvet
We’ve recently redecorated my children’s bedrooms, and as part of the upgrade, we decided to switch from toddler/single beds to double beds. There were a few reasons for this:
- Sick nights: When my children are poorly, I often end up sleeping on their floor ( I just can’t sleep in another room when they are ill, especially when it’s a sickness bug!). With a double bed, I can actually sleep comfortably with them instead of squashing myself into a tiny space or waking up stiff on the floor.
- Sleepovers & guests: A bigger bed is perfect for sleepovers with friends and also doubles up as a great guest bed for when the grandparents stay over.
Since these beds are going to be used by both kids and adults, I wanted to invest in a quality mattress and duvet—something that would keep everyone comfy and last a long time.
That’s when the team at Simba got in touch and asked if I’d like to review their Hybrid Duvet with Stratos® technology. I jumped at the chance! We’ve always been a feather duvet family, but let’s be honest—they’re not always the most practical for kids. The Simba Hybrid Duvet promised all the comfort of a feather duvet without the allergy risks, plus it’s machine washable (a must-have in a house with kids). But would it actually live up to the hype?
First Impressions:
The first thing I noticed when the duvet arrived was the super handy storage bag. If you’ve ever wrestled a duvet into a travel bag before, you’ll appreciate this! It opens fully, making it easy to get the duvet in and out without feeling like you’ve completed a full workout! This means we can easily take it to the grandparents’ house or even on holiday if we want our own bedding.
Unpacking it, my first thought was “This feels like a hotel duvet!” You know those big, squishy, luxurious duvets you just melt into? It is twice the height of our regular feather duvet, so it felt very grand.
Testing It Out
One of the most unique things about the Simba Hybrid Duvet is that each side feels different:
- One side is soft and cottony—this one feels warmer and more like a traditional duvet.
- The other side is cooler and shinier—this side has the Stratos® cool-touch technology, which is designed to regulate temperature and stop you from overheating.
We tried both sides, and I could definitely feel the difference. The cotton side felt warm and cozy, I could really feel the coolness of the cooler side. I was a bit worried the cooler side would be uncomfortable due to the material, but I really couldn’t feel any difference once the duvet cover was on. This would be great for couples who sleep at different temperatures.
Warmth & Weight – Is It Too Hot?
We’ve been testing this duvet out during winter, and it’s definitely a warm duvet. If you love big, chunky, weighted-feeling duvets, this is perfect. It’s super cozy, great for cold nights, and gives you that lovely tucked-in feeling.
However, if you’re someone who gets really warm at night and likes to stick your feet out to cool down, this might not be for you. The thickness makes it a little trickier to poke feet out the bottom (and I know some people love doing this to regulate their temp!). Since we tested it in winter, I can’t yet say how it performs in hotter months, but I have seen other reviews with positive views on using it in the summer.
Practicality – Machine Washable & Hypoallergenic
One of the biggest pros for me is that this duvet is hypoallergenic and machine washable. With kids, pets, and life in general, being able to chuck it in the washing machine is a huge win. Unlike feather duvets, you don’t have to worry about allergens or dust mites, so it’s a great option for asthma or allergy sufferers.
One Small Design Flaw… The Blue Edging
Okay, one tiny gripe—the bright blue edging around the duvet. I get that it’s part of Simba’s branding, but if you use white or light-coloured bedding, you can see the blue through the covers. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to be aware of if you prefer a crisp, all-white bed look.
Final Thoughts – Would I Recommend It?
Yes! If you’re looking for a luxurious, chunky duvet that’s super warm, hypoallergenic, and easy to wash, the Simba Hybrid Duvet is a fantastic choice. It has that hotel-quality feel, the temperature-regulating Stratos® tech, and the versatility to suit kids and adults.
It’s perfect for families, people who love big, cozy bedding, and anyone who wants a premium-feeling duvet without the faff of feathers.
If you’re someone who overheats easily or prefers a super lightweight duvet, this might not be the best fit for you.
