Grinch themed sweet cones
With Christmas just around the corner, I have been busy looking up some homemade Christmas gifts that I can make with my children, and these Grinch sweet cones are one of my favourite finds!
These cones are super easy to make, the only challenge I had was finding a large number of green sweets on their own (we have a LOT of leftover jelly beans in our house in most colours apart from green, luckily my children are helping me use these up...).
What do I need to make Grinch sweet cones?
Sweet cone bags
White sweets. I personally think white marshmallows look great, but we did try some white jelly beans too
Red sweets
Green sweets
Self-adhesive eyes
Black marker pen
How to make Homemade Grinch sweet cones
- First, you need to put a small white sweet in the top (the pointy part) of the sweet cone. This is for the tip of the Santa Hat
- The red sweets go in next to make the main body of the Santa hat
- For the fluffy brim of the Santa hat you need some more white sweets
- The Grinch's face needs to cover just under half of the sweet cone, here you need the green sweets.
- Tie up your sweet cone and turn it upside down, so the large base of green sweets is at the bottom and the white tip of the hat is at the top of the cone
- Stick on your self-adhesive eyes. You can stick on normal eyes with glue, I was just a bit worried they might fall off or leave glue residue around the edges. You can also draw the eyes on if you are feeling confident.
- Then you need to draw the eyebrows. I drew some zigzag lines diagonally upwards over each eye to give the Grinch a bit of a menacing look. I then drew on a nose and a big smile. Then you're done!
So there you go, there are your homemade Grinch Sweet Cones! These make a great activity to do with children and as well as being good gifts for family and friends, they can also be used as end-of-term teacher gifts.
