BÉBÉ SYMPHONIQUE BRINGS FIRST-IN-THE-UK SENSORY EXPERIENCE TO BABIES OF THE SOUTH WEST
A musical symposium with 360 immersive technology to soothe babies and promote neurological development
DATE: Thursday 10 NovemberTIME: 1pm
LOCATION: The Immersive Dome, Market Hall, Plymouth, Devon, PL1 4PS
More than 70 babies and parents/carers will immerse themselves in a captivating, orchestral, experiential, sensory, performance at the Immersive Dome in Market Hall, Plymouth on Thursday 10 November.
Screening for the first time in the UK is Bébé Symphonique – an entrancing musical show for babies up to 18 months. Seven instrumental pieces are accompanied with images designed to provide a relaxed sensory experience, creating special moments of connection between babies and their accompanying adults, while at the same time, promoting infant neurological development.
The film is the original inspiration of Canadian artistic director Nicolas Lemieux, who will be attending the first Immerse Fulldome festival to be held across ten days, from 4-13 November, at Market Hall’s Immersive Dome. The Immersive dome is 15m diameter and is the only one of its kind in Europe, and one of a handful in the world of this scale.
It is just one of many talks, workshops and screenings taking place across the festival with themes that explore the applications for this emerging and exciting technology. Themes include women in tech, the use of immersive tech in communicating environmental issues, and sensory Thursday, a full day of film screenings with sensory experiences for individuals with diverse needs.
Led by the Market Hall’s modern-day founder, Lindsey Hall of Real Ideas, this organisation is on a major mission to open up immersive tech and create unlike-anything-else experiential opportunities for this innovative venue.
Around the globe, immersive domes, borne of the planetarium world, are collectively exploring new ways for quality films and content to deliver for a range of audiences. However, this work tends to focus on the visitor economy, tech experimentation, science education and commercial opportunities.
Lindsey is a restless pioneer and she is determined to throw open both the physical and metaphorical doors to this gargantuan space and its technology, exploring, experimenting with and delivering new and multi-dimensional community, health and wellbeing, educational, and environmental advantages that others may not currently see.
In Plymouth, the new Immerse Fulldome UK festival combines the established Fulldome weekender, with a range of ‘different world’ options, audiences, opportunities and discussions, of the like that the sector has never seen in the UK.
