Beyond Bamboo: Why Material Choice Matters in Babycare
Why Naty is putting certified, plant-based materials first.
As World Bamboo Day (18 September) highlights the versatility of one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, Swedish babycare brand Naty is encouraging parents to look beyond the label and consider what materials are actually used in the products that sit closest to their baby’s skin.
Nappies, nappy pants and wet wipes are a parenting staple, used daily from newborn days through the toddler years. But with terms such as “plant-based”, “natural” and “eco” increasingly appearing across packaging, understanding what these claims really mean is not always straightforward.
For Naty, a Certified B Corporation, the answer is not simply about choosing one particular material. It’s about taking a more considered approach to the materials used across its range, combining plant-based alternatives with independent testing, recognised certifications and transparency.
That’s why Naty has spent more than 30-years developing babycare products that combine plant-based materials, skin safety and independently verified certifications, helping parents make more informed choices without compromising on comfort or performance.
A Closer Look at Bamboo
Bamboo is a renewable, plant-based material that has been used in products such as clothing and nappies because of its soft, absorbent and skin-gentle properties.
Naty’s Bamboo Nappies and Nappy Pants feature bamboo viscose in the topsheet and backsheet, combining a silky-soft feel with a fast, highly absorbent core designed to keep babies dry and comfortable.
Naty Bamboo Nappies feature:
- A 100% bamboo viscose outer layer and backsheet
- A bamboo viscose-enhanced topsheet
- Fast-absorbency core
- Wetness indicator
- Elasticated waist and legs
- Recyclable packaging with 30% recycled material
Dermatologically tested for sensitive skin, they are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, FSC certified and vegan, with dryness validated by the Hy-Tec German laboratory.
Bamboo nappies are available in sizes 1–7 from RRP: £5.75 (22 nappies size 1), Bamboo Nappy Pants are available in sizes 3–7 from RRP: £7.95 (20 nappies size 3). Packaging is recyclable and contains recycled material.
While bamboo offers one plant-based option, Naty’s approach goes further, with its wider range combining carefully selected materials with rigorous testing and recognised certifications to help parents make more informed choices.
