Natterhub, preparing children to thrive online, announced a new capability available in Natterhub for Microsoft Teams. Educators can now assign Natterhub animated lessons and quizzes as part of a class assignment in Teams. This enables a more seamless and engaging experience for educators and students to use Natterhub.

Natterhub has an extensive library of 350+ interactive lessons, quizzes, assignments and activities for teaching students aged 5-11 years about online safety and positive screen behaviours. Fun and engaging for students, Natterhub has been designed by experienced educators. This ensures that whilst lessons create impact in the classroom, it’s time saving too - with all tracking, lesson plans, assessment and accompanying resources provided for teachers.

CEO Manjit Sareen said “Being an online safety program that integrates with Microsoft Teams for education is an incredible opportunity for us. We are passionate about educating as many students as possible around the digital space before they use the internet independently.” Co-founder and educator Caroline Allams added, “It’s critical that children are taught digital soft skills because where there’s technology, there is online vulnerability.”

Microsoft is equally pleased about this new collaboration, “We know that children are quick to navigate the functionality of new software, but without guidance or effective online safety knowledge and skills, they run the risk of potential pitfalls around digital interactivity. Having Natterhub available via Microsoft Teams for Education means schools have the opportunity to mitigate these risks” said Leif Brenne, Principal Program Manager, Microsoft Education.

Technology use is at an all-time high; this correlates with statistics relating to online vulnerability, self-generated imagery, online exploitation, coercion and grooming.

With staff training, tech support and concierge customer service, Natterhub is a one-stop solution for primary and elementary schools. Aimed at students aged 5-11 years, lessons and quizzes nurture and teach important soft skills to stay safe online, covering all screen related topics, from cyberbullying to time spent online, and from sending images to handling unwanted contact.  Natterhub provides a systematic, age-appropriate media literacy whole-school program of study.

Since the launch last year, Natterhub has been used in over 60 countries and is the result of over seven years of educational research carried out across the UK. Debbie Kelly, a headteacher from Beaumont Primary Academy in Huddersfield, UK said, “When we saw how Natterhub addresses online safeguarding, we decided we couldn't afford NOT to have it. If we are looking to address the issues facing our most vulnerable children, they need a tool that resonates with their digital experiences. Natterhub does this so well.”

As Natterhub makes its debut into Teams, Natterhub offers schools the human element of EdTech teaching and learning: the genre of digital communication, which, if we are to prepare children to thrive in a digitally blended world, is very much needed.
