FatFace Finds England’s Best Free Family Outings

  • Fistral Beach, Durham Cathedral, and Walsall Arboretum make the list of England’s top free family attractions
  • The new guide by FatFace includes three no-cost outing suggestions for each region of England

With austerity biting and the festive season well and truly at an end, loved British clothing brand, FatFace, has launched a campaign to get the English back out and enjoy family time together. With a rundown of England’s best fun-packed and free excursions, FatFace has outing ideas for every region of the country. From the Cornish coastal paths to Durham cathedral.

The free handy guide, available through the FatFace website, shows that you don’t need a fat wallet to get out and enjoy the winter weather. With the right warm clothing and a bit of imagination, there are plenty of wonders to be found throughout the counties of England.

The idea of the campaign is to not only highlight the wonderful free resources that England has to offer but to provide families with fun ideas to take them away from the television and start making memories together – without breaking the bank.

Listing three no-cost attractions for each region of the country, the FatFace team have had to be very selective in their recommendations. Choosing outings that have something for everyone. Whether places of outstanding natural beauty, like the Norfolk coastal path. Or attractions that have had a little help from humans, such as David Austen Roses in Shropshire.

The full list of top-rated free attractions includes:

North East:

  • Durham cathedral
  • Quayside
  • Roker and Seaburn beaches

North West:

  • Chester cathedral
  • Helvellyn
  • Walton Hall and gardens

With the cost of living rising throughout 2022, and inflation at a 41-year high, families throughout England are having to think very carefully about where to spend their money. And now that Christmas is over, luxuries are very much off the menu. The FatFace team are hoping to show that there are still things to do that don’t cost the earth. And that might just help families to get to know their local area a little better.

Charlotte Chibani-Jones, Head of Marketing at FatFace, comments: ‘England has a huge amount to offer. With our incredibly rich history and glorious coastline and countryside, there is so much to see and do. But in winter, too many of us just hunker down and stay indoors. This campaign is really just a reminder that there’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing!

‘If you rug up, pull on your wellies, and grab your waterproofs, you can create amazing family memories every weekend. And it doesn’t have to cost you a penny. And the best bit is that because everyone else is hiding inside, you don’t have to share the view, and there will be no one else getting in the way of your selfies!’
