Family Golf Fun: A Colourful Way to Get the Kids Involved
The moment the clocks went forward and the evenings began to get lighter, I knew it was only a matter of time until I became a golf widow again.
Sure enough, casual questions like “Do we have plans on Sunday?” started happening, and quick as a flash, the golf wear was back on and the clubs were stacked perfectly in the middle of my kitchen, ready to go!
This year, I decided to embrace the sport my husband loves so much and come up with some ways we can all get a bit more involved. From trips to the driving range to indoor golf simulators, we’ve actually had a lot of fun.
One recent activity we tried is decorating Daddy’s golf balls. Now, I’m no golfer, but apparently you lose a lot of balls and spend quite a bit of time searching for them! With this in mind, we got out our brightest Sharpies and spent a fun few hours creating colourful designs and patterns that would be easy to spot – and also be something my husband treasures. (Hey, he might even look a bit harder for them and not have to buy so many new ones…)
It’s such a simple activity! We just used some permanent markers and golf balls my husband already had. We did try normal felt tips on a few, but they weren’t nearly bright enough – and they rubbed off pretty easily.
I’ve seen social media stories of people decorating golf balls while out in golf carts, so this could even be a great way to entertain your kids if you head to the range for a bit of practice.
Major mum hack right here – getting your kids and your husband into golf could earn you some pretty peaceful weekends in the coming years. 🤣
